We have created five short 45-60 minute training bites that can be spread out to fit into your staff training schedules. Each bite can be led independently from the others, with the exception of "Bite 4: Applications of PBF."

What is PBF

~60 minutes

Participants are briefly introduced to PBF and practice identifying Engagement Categories for an open-ended exhibit and create a PBF Matrix using the NGSS practices.

Expand Engagement

~60 minutes

Participants explore what makes an open-ended exhibit and consider the different type of engagement levels within on particular exhibit in their institution. They then consider how they could change the type of engagement a visitor uses with an exhibit.

Broaden Practices

~30-45 minutes

Participants explore what practices visitors might use within their institution at various exhibits. They discuss what disciplinary practices are unique to their field and consider how they might facilitate a shift in which practice visitors are engaging with.

Application of PBF

~45 minutes

*Previous training on PBF is necessary* Participants practice applying the PBF framework to two case studies. They discuss the PBF moves the facilitator made and consider how they might make different facilitation moves using PBF.

Visual Thinking Strategies

~45 minutes 

Participants are introduced to the modified VTS questions and practice facilitating various images using the VTS questions.
